Alice is a little girl of 6. She suffers from a genetic disease confining her to a wheelchair.
During the Halloween holidays, she goes and pays a visit to her Dutch friend, suffering from the same disease.
This encounter opens a comparison of two radically different systems, two social approaches of a same handicap.
Denmark is indeed the European country with the most advanced solutions in social politics. The disparities on a European level are undeniable in taking care of the handicapped, the place they have in society, and the means available.
While evoking these various films, the camera faithfully follows Alice as she plays, chats or wanders with her friends. Back in Paris, Alice recounts with photos her trip in the land of the mermaid. Beyond her handicap, we see these children live like all others.
Alice does not feel any different from the others. She simply needs to be cured.
