is a simple and enlightening film on medication research. From the first poliomyelitis epidemic in 1926 in the United States, to the day of the discovery of a first vaccine in 1955, and to its almost complete eradication in industrialized countries, the steps were strangely similar to todays Téléthon adventure.

A parents’ association was created: the March of Dimes, collecting small change, raised more funds each year and awoke the government’s awareness, helped patients, participated to scientific improvements… until the vaccine was finally created.
Through archival footage, GUERIR! evokes research strategies, similar to a game of Checks, but also the parents’ battle, the hopeful effort and sometimes tragic attempts in search of a viable treatment.

Like an adventure film on the story of a past victory and its similarities with today’s combat, GUERIR! illustrates the intuitions, the trials and wanderings of today’s researchers, the rays of hope and fundamental discoveries, through the stories of today’s genetic diseases’ greatest specialists.
